Prostrate Problems

Question:

Trouble urinating in the morning. Rest of the day no problem. Retarded ejaculation. I always have an erection in the morning when I wake up.

I am 67, otherwise in good health. I had my prostate checked by rubber glove method recently. My physician had no comment, except to ask if I had trouble urinating.

Do you have some general comments to make? Is my condition fairly normal?

Am I likely to get worse? At my age does it matter?

Answer:

The symptoms described are probably variations of normal. Morning erections at age 67 is a good sign.

The morning voiding difficulties could be handled with medication.

I would recommend that you see a good urologist and get a PSA.
