Activity Description

Completion of all the modules of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) course “Applying CDC’s Guideline for Prescribing Opioids” that reviews the 2016 “Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain.” Note: This activity may be selected once every 4 years, to avoid duplicative information given that some of the modules may change on a year by year basis but over 4 years there would be a reasonable expectation for the set of modules to have undergone substantive change, for the improvement activities performance category score.

Objective

Become better equipped to improve prescription practices and thus help reduce patients' risks of addiction and overdose.

Suggested Documentation

Documented completion with a passing score for all applicable modules available during the performance year of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC’s) course "Applying CDC's Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain" that reviews the 2016/2022 "Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain." Include the following element:

1) Record of completion and passing score – Documented participation in and completion of (e.g., certificate of completion, screenshot) the CDC’s course "Applying CDC's Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain" that reviews the 2016/2022 "Clinical Practice Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Pain."
