2026 MIPS Reporting – Key Dates and Deadlines to Know

2026 Performance Year Begins

• The performance period runs from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
• MDinteractive customers can begin reporting 2026 MIPS data in their MDinteractive accounts.

Registration Opens for:

• MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs): Registration is open until November 30th, 8 pm ET. To report the CAHPS for MIPS Survey associated with an MVP, complete the MVP registration and separately the CAHPS for MIPS Survey registration by June 30, 2026.
• Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) for MIPS Survey: Registration is open until June 30th, 2026, 8 pm ET.

Exception Applications Window Opens

• Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) Exception – Any or all categories.
• Promoting Interoperability Hardship Exception – for the Promoting Interoperability category
• Applications accepted until December 31, 2026, by 8 p.m. ET.

Registration Ends for the CAHPS for MIPS Survey

• If reporting the CAHPS for MIPS Survey associated with an MVP, the MVP registration must also be completed by June 30, 2026, to align with the CAHPS for MIPS registration deadline.

Last Day to Start a 180-day Performance Period for Promoting Interoperability

APM Eligibility Updated

• Qualifying Participant (QP) determinations and MIPS APM participation information are available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (March 31 APM Snapshot date).

APM Eligibility Updated

• Qualifying Participant (QP) determinations and MIPS APM participation information are available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (June 30 APM Snapshot date).

2026 MIPS Eligibility Finalized

• QP determinations and MIPS APM participation information are available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (August 31 APM Snapshot date).

MIPS Performance Period Ends

Exception Applications Window Closes

• MIPS APM participation information is available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (December 31 APM Snapshot date).

2026 MIPS Final Scores Available

• MIPS final scores will be available based on the data that was submitted for the performance period.
• Targeted Review Opens Once MIPS Final Scores Are Available.
• Payment Adjustment Information Available Approximately 30 Days after Final Scores Are Released.
• Targeted Review Closes 30 Days after the Release of Your Payment Adjustment Information.

Payment Year Begins

• MIPS payment adjustments (determined by your MIPS final score) will go into effect on January 1, 2028 and continue through December 31, 2028.
