2024 MIPS Reporting - Key Dates and Deadlines to Remember

CMS Releases the Final Rule for the 2024 MIPS Performance Year.

Initial MIPS Eligibility for 2024 is Available.

• We make it easy for you to check your MIPS eligibility status directly from your MDinteractive account dashboard.
• Clinicians can also check the CMS Participation Status Tool to view their initial eligibility status for MIPS in 2024.

The 2024 MIPS Performance Year Begins.

• The 2024 MIPS performance year runs from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
• MDinteractive customers can begin reporting 2024 MIPS data in their MDinteractive accounts.

Registration Opens for Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) for MIPS Survey.

If you want to administer the CAHPS for MIPS survey, you need to register between April 1 and July 1, 2024.

Registration Opens for MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs).

To report an MVP in the 2024 performance year you’ll need to register between April 1 and December 2, 2024. During the registration process, you’ll also select if you want to submit as a subgroup. To report the CAHPS for MIPS Survey associated with an MVP, you must complete the MVP registration and separately the CAHPS for MIPS Survey registration by July 1, 2024.

The Quality Payment Program Exception Applications Window Opens.

You can apply for an Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances Exception (any or all performance categories) or a Hardship Exception to the Promoting Interoperability performance category between Spring 2024 and January 2, 2025.

Registration Ends for the CAHPS for MIPS Survey.

If you’ll report the CAHPS for MIPS Survey associated with an MVP, you must also complete the MVP registration by July 1, 2024 to align with the CAHPS for MIPS registration deadline.

APM Eligibility Updated.

Qualifying Participant (QP) determinations and MIPS APM participation information are available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (March 31 APM Snapshot date).

APM Eligibility Updated.

Qualifying Participant (QP) determinations and MIPS APM participation information are available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (June 30 APM Snapshot date).

MIPS Eligibility is Finalized for the 2024 Performance Year.

2024 MIPS Performance Period Ends.

The Quality Payment Program Exception Applications Window Closes for the 2024 Performance Year.

The Submission Window Opens for the 2024 Performance Period.

APM Eligibility Updated.

MIPS APM participation information is available on the Quality Payment Program Participation Status Tool (December 31 APM Snapshot date).

MIPS Final Scores Available.

Clinicians have the opportunity to preview their 2024 final score on the data that was submitted for the performance period, which will determine their 2026 MIPS payment adjustment. 

Targeted Review Opens Once Your MIPS Final Scores Are Available.

CMS Performance Feedback and Payment Adjustment Information are Available for the 2024 Performance Period.

• The performance feedback includes your final MIPS scores and payment adjustment information. 

Targeted Review Closes 30 Days after the Release of  Payment Adjustment Information.

Once your payment adjustment information is available, CMS will allow clinicians and groups to request a targeted review if they believe an error was made with their 2024 performance feedback or MIPS payment adjustment factors.

CMS has noted that targeted review decisions are final and requests must be submitted before the targeted review deadline.

2024 Performance Year Payment Adjustments Begin.

The payment adjustments based on the 2024 performance year go into effect on January 1, 2026, and continue through December 31, 2026.
